Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary

Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary is also known as Indira Priyadarshini (Asola) sanctuary located in Delhi, the National Capital Region of India. The sanctuary is named after the Asola village near Tughlaqabad in the Delhi NCR. The sanctuary lies on the southern Delhi as well as northern parts of Faridabad and Gurugram districts of Haryana state on the Southern Delhi Ridge of Aravalli hill range.  This is part of Northern Aravalli leopard wildlife corridor which is connected to Sariska National Park in Rajasthan.

Notified Area: 27.81 km2
The sanctuary was designated in 1986 and in 1991l ands of Bhatti added to the sanctuary territory.
Visitors can visit the santuary round the year.

Flora

Vegetation is moist semi-evergreen forest.Aquatic flora of the park includes Zizania latifolia (wild rice, ishing kambong), Eiranthus procerus (singnang), Alpinia galanga (pullei), Saccharum munja (khoimom), S. bengalensis, Eichhornia crassipes (kabokang), Dioscorea bulbifera (phumha), Cynodon dactylon (tinthou), Hedychium coronarium (loklei), Nelumbo nucifera (thambal) and Phragmites karka

Dry deciduous thorny forest comprising followingmajor plant species; Butea monosperma (flame of forest), Anogeissus (dhok), Wrightia tinctoria (Inderjao), Indian elm, Neolamarckia cadamba (kadamba), Prosopis cineraria (jaand), Tinospora cordifolia (giloi), etc.

Fauna

Mammal

Leopards, nilgai, blackbuck, black-naped hare, Indian crested porcupine, small Indian civet, golden jackal and jungle cat etc.

Avifauna

Black francolin, grey-headed fish eagle, red-headed vulture, Egyptian vulture,painted stork, white-faced ibis and European roller etc.

Bhardwaj lake, Death valley lake, CITM lake 1, Dolphin lake, Nallah lake, Zile Singh lake, Sangam Vihar lake, Mahamai lake, Radhe Krishan lake are wetlands present in the limit of this sanctuary.
